Malawi: New Water Supply Options Assessment
Since 2019 Flow-5 have been working with an international NGO to develop a new, solar-powered groundwater supply system for a large Refugee Camp in Malawi. The existing water supplies (mainly handpumps) did not provide enough water to meet the current and future needs of an expanding camp population.
Malawi: Pilot Drilling and New Water Supply Installation
Since 2019, Flow-5 have been working with an International NGO to develop a new, solar-powered groundwater supply system for a large Refugee Camp in Malawi. The existing water supplies (mainly handpumps) did not provide enough water to meet the current and future needs of an expanding camp population. Flow-5’s initial groundwater supply assessment survey identified two target areas with good groundwater supply potential that were earmarked for further investigation.
Distillery Water Supply Assessment
In 2022, a distillery in Scotland asked Flow-5 to complete an assessment of their existing water supply system and an appraisal of future water supply options for their operations. The distillery wants to ensure they have a robust, resilient, and sustainable water supply for the long term. Compared to their existing system, which utilised surface water vulnerable to fluctuations in weather, a Flow-5 borehole will provide reliable groundwater despite climate variations.
Groundwater Supply for an Industrial Site
In 2022, Flow-5 were contracted by a large recycling and reprocessing company. The role involved overseeing the installation and licencing of a new groundwater supply borehole at a facility currently under development in the north of England, due to be opened in 2023.
Jordan: Drilling Deep
In 2022 Flow-5 were contracted to supervise the installation and testing of a new water supply borehole at a drinks bottling facility in Amman, Jordan.
The borehole was drilled to 390m depth to target a deep limestone aquifer unit. A high-spec installation ensured the target aquifer was fully isolated from the overlying aquifer units, requiring close supervision and in-depth technical knowledge.
